What web host should I use?
One of the biggest questions I get from customers and potential customers is what web host should I use? For the average small business website there are a few key spots of information you should look for:
- how many email addresses are available
- domain name is it free or do you have to pay
- E-Commerce (this is important if you want to sell products on your website)
- Website builder (Joomla or other Content Management programs)
Of course there are other areas that you should keep an eye on such as bandwidth and disk space. But for most of the companies I work with, they are not getting a huge amount of hits a day to worry about reaching their bandwidth limit.
Right now web hosts range from 71 dollars for three years to 47 dollars are year. With that cost you may need to include domain costs (if it is not included already or if it is free). For most web hosts, the longer you sign up your website the more savings you are going to have.
As with every web designer or business owner we all have our own thought process on how to choose a web host. The above are the areas that I consider when a client asks for my opinion.
